The first round of the Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup Italy kicked off last weekend at the Maggiora Offroad Arena in Piedmont, which jointly hosted the second stage of the Italian Rallycross Championship alongside the Yamaha side-by-side vehicles.
The track’s mixture of paved and dirt terrain was host to some
fast and truly spectacular competition for the first Italian round, with
Saturday testing giving competitors their first chance to learn and
build confidence at the Arena ahead of Sunday’s race.
The YXZ1000R field demonstrated the pace and capability of the Yamaha
vehicle with impressive lap times by all drivers on a surface that
challenged even the top-tier WRC vehicles.
The Stock class saw absolute domination by Amerigo Ventura on the way to
his first 2019 win, followed by an excellent Fabio Braghè in second in
his first experience on a YXZ1000R and Gianluca Bosio in third.
The Open class played out in a thrilling race-long battle between
Vagaggini and Tinaburri, with Vagaggini coming out on top in the final
moments of the race.
The second round of the Yamaha YXZ1000R Cup Italy will take place at the Rally di San Marino on 13-14 July.
