Rukajarvi grabs Big Air silver behind Austrian at World Championships.

Anna Gasser showed yet again why she is the woman to beat in the snowboard freestyle world by making history with a perfect 100 score to win Big Air gold at the World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain.

The Austrian recorded a tremendous score of 189.50 to finish ahead of Finland’s Enni Rukajarvi in silver and Norwegian Silje Norendal back in third place.

Gasser left her best until last, the third and final run seeing her pull off a mammoth back side double cork 1080 mute which she somehow landed to score a perfect 100 – the first woman to score 100 points in official competition.

Snowboard royalty Shaun White scored 100 points in the men’s X Games halfpipe in 2012, a feat that remained untouched until Gasser’s amazing Friday night.

Gasser’s previous best score in the competition of 89.50 added to her perfect 100 meant she ended the competition 24.25 points ahead of Rukajarvi, the 2011 slopestyle champion.

The 25-year-old had only just claimed slopestyle gold at the Winter X Games in Hafjell, Norway as well as slopestyle gold at the recent Burton US Open.

Norway’s Marcus Kleveland could not match Gasser in the men’s Big Air, however he did enough to secure a bronze medal behind compatriot Staale Sandbech and American Chris Corning.

The field had already seen Gasser’s amazing feat moments earlier along with the 2,000 strong crowd, repechage qualifier Sandbech putting together two excellent scores to win with 188.25 leaving Kleveland back on 177.25 for a medal.
