The world premiere of Red Bull DR.ONE, a unique drone racing event, will take place during the Krone E-Mobility Play Days from 29th to 30th September 2017.

A specially built outdoor obstacle course will challenge drone pilot teams from 11 different countries to put their precision and dexterity to the test, all whilst racing over the heads of excited spectators.

Unlike existing drone racing events, Red Bull DR.ONE calls for the combination of speed, ability and precision with the highest requirements of skills and technology to beat the set obstacles in the track. “It´s a drone race not only about the best technology or the most skilled pilot – also the best strategy during the race weekend is essential to take the win.”, says Jörg Bumba, Race Director of Red Bull DR.ONE.

Penalizing obstacle course

Red Bull DR.ONE incorporates the new emergent drone racing discipline to create a race unlike any other. The course and the numerous obstacles are to trial the resilience and stability of the pilot´s quadcopters and the race includes a mandatory pit-stop for battery changes or repairs. The obstacles, or known as ‘Gates’ are inspired by the four elements; fire, water, air and earth. For the race teams as a consequence, it won’t be possible to finish the whole race without a great racing strategy.

Best pilot teams in the world

During the race all 18 pilots will compete in three different heats on Day 1 with four races in each heat. On Day 2 a new seeding round begins with three races and the last three heats. Only the 6 best pilots with the most points from all heats will take part in the final races on Saturday afternoon. The best 2 pilots with the most points win the race. Racing teams from the Netherlands, France, the UK, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, Australia, South Korea and the USA are confirmed to take part.
