Joe Collier – Brands Indy – Round 2

Joe Collier – Ducati Tri Options
Brands Indy
It was another strong weekend for Joe Collier in the Ducati Performance Tri Options Cup at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Racing on the BPS Racing team Joe secured another win on the Sunday but was forced to retire in race two after a technical problem.
Joe was fast all weekend on the Ducati and dominated the practice sessions once again. He was feeling confident for qualifying and took pole position by 0.1 of a second from Rob Guiver. Joe got a really bad start in the first race and dropped back to sixth after the opening lap, he had to push hard and work his way back up through the pack. By lap eight he had made it back to the front and took another convincing win.
Joe was eager to back this up with win number two on Monday but sadly it was not meant to be. Joe was on pole again for race two. Once again he dropped to sixth on the start but was making progress through the field but one of the bolts got ground down and made the fairing come loose and he was forced to retire to the pits. He is second in the Championship, just 8.5 points behind the leader with 12 races of the series remaining it is still very much an open book.
Joe Collier – “We went to Brands Indy and used the settings from Donington as we knew with that we had a base setting to work with. We made some changes throughout the sessions and I managed to find good speed and set some good times each time we went out.
I’m really pleased to take another win in the series and I hope more will come at the future rounds. I was really disappointed about the fairing coming loose in race two as I really felt like I had the pace to run up at the front. It was a good feeling to beat the lap record by half a second also and hope that will be the case at others circuits too.
I love Oulton Park and it’ll be interesting riding the Ducati there, I’m looking forward to it. Thanks to all the team for their help and also to all my personal sponsors.”
