At the inaugural edition of the e-bike stage race Tour du Mont Blanc – held as a part of the Verbier E-Bike Festivals – the swiss took the victory in the overall ranking. The duo of the MTB legend and multiple World Champion SAUSER CHRISTOPH (SUI)/ BUNDI SILVIO (SUI) took place 2 – their victory of the final stage today was just not enough to take the overall victory. The podium is completed by MULLER KENNY (FRA)/ GIORDANENGO OLIVIER (FRA) on rank 3.
Also in the women’s competition a Swiss won: Place 1 went to SCHNEITTER NATHALIE (Lommiswil/SO/SUI) and her British teammmate, triple World Enduro Champion (2013,2014, 2015) MOSELEY TRACY (GBR).
Place 2 went to the twins KLOSE PEGGY / KLOSE-WUSTMANN SANDRA (GER). The podium is completed by TROYON MARIE (SUI) / MARTIN MARINETTE (SUI) on place 3.
The 3 day e-bike stage race Tour du Mont Blanc (14.-16. August) crossed the 3 neighbour countries Switzerland, Italy and France. The track all around Europe’s highest mountain was full of challenges: stage one went from Verbier to Courmayeur, Italy; day two concluded in the French mountain sports hub of Chamonix and on the third day, winners were crowned at the grand finale in Verbier. Racing in teams of two, a fine selection of elite e-mountain bikers faced a gigantic task: 12 000 m of vertical ascent and 16 000 m of descent, over a distance of 300 k on predominantly rough terrain. And as they competed for their share of the 20’000 USD prize purse, riders also needed to prove strategy and timing skills, with only one refuelling point per day available to exchange batteries.
