Sophia Floersch Formula Regional European Championship 2019

From early child-hood years racing Go-carts to winning karting events around Europe from 2008- 2014, the ambitous German teenager embarked on racing first rung of Motorsport ladder- Ginetta Junior Championship taking 2 wins and 2 podiums in 2015.

Having pricked attention from Red Bull to sign the Motorsport athlete, Sophia turned sights to race Formula 4 and achieved first female status to score points in ADAC Formula 4 race in 2017.

Breaking mould of traditional male dominated sport, Sophia came to grips with her ability to compete against male peers- as #99 states in recent interview on ‘Good Morning Great Britain’ that women can compete on level playing field as men in Formula One given equal footings of race car, Team crew and everything in between.

Following -calling it- Sophia’s horrendous incident/crash/plus injury at Macau Grand Prix in 2018, this year after months of recuperation, simulator test driving/racing, fitness and mental apptitude re-set- Sophia is currently racing Formula Regional European Championship (FREC).

As sole driver for the Dutch Team Van Amersfoort Racing, the decision to have Sophia back in drivers seat was a given- as Team boss Frits van Amersfoort explains-‘”we are going with Sophia-with the team’s enthusiasm and Sophia’s incredible drive to compete again, I am certain we’ll do well.”
