James and Ferguson clinch medals in Aspen as Winter X Games draw to close.

Scotty James and Ben Ferguson were involved in a Winter X Games battle for the ages with Ayumu Hirano as the Japanese snowboarder edged them out for gold in a superpipe classic.

Hirano unleashed an amazing score of 99 behind back-to-back 1440-degree jumps to triumph with Australian James’ spectacular 98 falling just short as American Ferguson ended third after a superb 95.

In the men’s ski slopestyle, Norwegian Oystein Braaten fell agonisingly short of defending his title as Swede Henrik Harlaut claimed gold by just 0.67 points more.

One point separated Harlaut in first, Braaten in silver and Andri Ragettli in bronze with Braaten claiming, “A lot of pressure. A couple of mistakes, but I cleaned up in the last one. I’m really happy.”
