Gasly, Kvyat, F1 boss Carey and movie star Dempsey excited by premium fashion brand.

On February 14, Scuderia AlphaTauri, the racing team named after Red Bull‘s premium fashion brand, unveiled its new car and innovative teamwear at Salzburg’s Hangar-7.

Here are the key drivers, team and personality quotes from the night:

French driver Pierre Gasly

“Honestly, it was amazing. The whole show was incredible. To be a part of it was really an honour and I’m super proud of all the people who have managed to make it happen. Now we just need to hit the track, make sure the car is fast because that’s the priority. There is a real big motivation from everyone at the factory. Last year, Toro Rosso had two podiums, one from Daniil in Hockenheim and another one in Brazil for us. I think it was our best season in Formula 1 since we joined. And you can feel it at the factory, that energy, everybody is pushing like crazy for this year. Bringing a fashion brand in Formula 1 is a great thing. I do believe we will be the coolest team, for sure in terms of outfits. We’ll have a great looking, comfortable outfit for all of us.”

Russian driver Daniil Kvyat

“We’re proud to be representing a fashion brand such as AlphaTauri. It felt good, both comfortable and stylish, quite elegant with the white colour. Still we have some testing to do in Barcelona. That will be the first thing we focus on, then we go to Australia nice and early for the first race. Of course it’s hard to make any predictions beforehand. Of course we expect a very tight battle as it was last year in the midfield. I think it will be all the same. Renault, hopefully McLaren will stay somewhere near us, and Haas, Racing Point and Alfa Romeo and so on. Maybe Williams will join us as well. You never know.”

Red Bull motorsports consultant Dr Helmut Marko

“It has a very aggressive, clear design and also the presentation was like it was in the glorious times of Formula 1. We’re very proud about that. I’m sure the performance of the team will also raise with this name change. It’s completely different to Toro Rosso. We expect AlphaTauri to be consistently matching on top of the midfield. The engine is one of the most important things nowadays. It’s a very sophisticated engine. Honda made big steps since they first came in 2018 in Toro Rosso. Reliability and power output improved dramatically. We saw the numbers they are promising for this year and that makes us really, really optimistic.”

AlphaTauri general manager Ahmet Mercan

“This is a milestone for us… also a bit emotional, where the dream comes true. Since 2016 we established AlphaTauri as a premium fashion brand and the renaming from Scuderia Toro Rosso marks a new milestone in the global rollout strategy. AlphaTauri fuses premium fashion with function and is always driven by innovation. To be visible in Formula 1 is a key milestone. I’m sure the guys will perform very well.”

Formula One chief executive Chase Carey

“Red Bull always puts on a show. We’re incredibly proud to have Red Bull and AlphaTauri as a part of Formula 1. They have great fans around the world and we look forward to seeing them on the track. In exactly a month, on March 15, we’re on the track and we want every team to believe this is their year. We hope AlphaTauri will be a team that comes out and surprises people. That’s what you want: great competition, great action, impeccable events. They had some great success last year but we hope it’s more and better this year.”

Hollywood film and TV star Patrick Dempsey

“First of all, it’s great to be back in Austria, especially at Hangar-7. The presentation tonight was really exciting. I love the clothes. Innovation and technology, that’s what’s important and that’s also what’s beautiful about the brand too. The rebranding is so important, so very special. Just as young guys, and what they do, the level that they’re doing it, they (Gasly and Kvyat) have such a wisdom that’s far beyond their years. They’re just nice men. Fiercely competitive, inspiring and they’re good.”

Red Bull racing legend David Coulthard

“I feel really proud actually to be part of another great Red Bull inspired event. To see the transition from what was Toro Rosso, which when I was racing until 2008 they were competition. They’ve served the main team very well as a driver development platform. This now seems like an opportunity to step out of the shadow of Red Bull Racing and be this new fashion brand that is part of the Red Bull family. It’s beautiful clothing because it generates downforce and is made out of high tech materials. This absolutely fits hand in glove with the fashion industry. We have very little regulation change for 2020, so it’s a big opportunity for the team to finesse what they already had and, with two drivers now that are not young rookies, they have Formula 1 experience. Daniil will do his 100th Gand Prix this year. They have all the potential to be the most elegant team on the grid. I really hope the drivers are not only quick on track, but look great off track.”
