Malcolm Rathmell Sport – MRS Sherco – British Enduro Championship Podium

More Success for Sherco MRS

Last weekend, 3rd and 4th August, was the fifth and sixth rounds of the British Enduro Championship which was run by the Hafren Bike Club at Hafren Forest, Welshpool.  ‘The Hafren’ is recognised as one of the best enduros in the British Championship series and it didn’t disappoint on any level and the event was enjoyed by all who took part.   On Saturday Factory Sherco MRS rider Dan Mundell put in the best performance for Sherco winning the E1 class and finishing 3 rd overall on his 2.5 SEF 4T.  Factory Sherco rider, Jack Edmondson, put in a solid performance to come home third in E2, finishing 5 th overall on his Factory 3.0 SEF 4T.  Jed Etchells, riding his 3.0 SE 2T came third in the E3 class.  James Dent had an unfortunate accident which needed several stiches in his arm and he was unable to continue in the event.  In the Expert Class MRS rider Aaron Gordon continued on his winning ways putting in a superb performance on his Sherco 3.0 SEF 4T to take both the E2 class and the overall win.  Richard Tucker, on his 3.0 SE 2T came second in the E3 class and Harry Hilliers Rees, aboard his 2.5 SEF 4T came in 2 nd in the E1 class.   As Sunday dawned it was all to play for and Dan Mundell continued on his current good form winning the E1 class and finishing 3 rd overall with Factory Sherco rider Jack Edmondson finishing 2 nd in the E2 class and 4th overall.  Jed Etchells had a consistent ride to finish third in the E3 class.  Aaron Gordon won the E2 class and finished 2 nd overall on the day with Harry Hilliers Rees showing his consistency with another second place in the E1 class.   With just one round to go now Jack Edmondson is lying joint second in the overall standings on 83 points.  Dan Mundell, who unfortunately had a bad injury, missing the second round so with a non- scoring event he is now on 73 points so both the MRS Sherco riders will be giving it their all at the last round to try to finish on a high for the year.  Aaron Gordon has ridden consistently all year and is leading the Expert standings going into the last round.   Dan Mundell – “I’ve had another great weekend abroad my SEF-R 250 Sherco. The bike was faultless all weekend and I’m glad to close in on the top three in the Championship after taking some good points from Alex Snow and Jack Edmondson this weekend after missing the second round. All to play for at the next round! Thanks to Martin, Sherco and MRS once again.”   Jack Edmondson – “There was some tough competition this weekend with Jamie McCanney and Joe Wooton coming to join the series. I started well with two top three times in the opening grass test but struggled to find some speed in the Enduro test. By the time we got back to the final two cross tests I was fifth but made some good times on a test I liked to finish off the day.   On Sunday I started really well on the first two cross tests. On the enduro test I tried my best to be closer to the front, which I did improve on with some consistent times. With two great times on the last cross tests I finished the day in 4th overall and happy to extend my lead in the E2 class.   I had a good feeling with the Sherco and a great event put on by the Hafren Club. Thanks to Martin, all at Sherco and MRS.”   Aaron Gordon – “I had a good day two at the Hafren British Enduro Championship coming away with 2nd overall in experts just 3 seconds from the win behind Max. With a 1 – 2 result over the weekend, I also managed to come away with the Championship lead coming into the last two rounds at the Natterjack Enduro in October.   I’m happy with the progress I’m making in my riding and with the bike but I will never settle and I’ll always try harder. I’d like to say a huge thank you to my parents and my sponsors for giving me the opportunity to race the British Championship and giving me the tools to do my best.”
