Skiers & Snowboarders together at the TAG TEAM Crossover Slopestyle Session: Fabio Studer, Maxi Preissinger and Xeno Lehnherr win newly created competition at LAAX OPEN 2020
The very first LAAX OPEN TAG TEAM Crossover Slopestyle Session took place last weekend, a new showcase with freeskiers and snowboarders riding the upper section of the slopestyle course. 6 mixed teams with 3 riders each had to hit the course together and be creative as a team. The true spirit of Freestyle sports was on display, as it was all about having fun riding together with your buddies. Team SERENITY with Fabio Studer (Ski), Maxi Preissinger (Snowboard) and local rider Xeno Lehnherr (Ski) took home the first TAG TEAM title.
The first event of its kind offered a prominent field of riders: Snowboard legend Nicolas Müller (SUI), Rider of the Year 2006, 2008 and 2013, as well as Slopestyle Burton European Open winner 2011 Roope Tonteri (FIN), Freeskier Fabio Studer (AUT) (Freeride World Tour) and local hero and Olympic rider Sina Candrian from Switzerland competed.
A considerable amount of fun was also had by the freestylers led by local hero Celia Petrig. Together with her Swiss team members Dario Burch (Big Air & Slopestyle) and Daniel Loosli (Freeski) she entertained the crowd at the first Laax Open Tag Team Session – and that earned the three of them second place. Roope Tonteri, the World Champion in Slopestyle and Big Air 2013, and his Swiss teammate, freeskier Sämi Ortlieb and the first placed of the World Rookie Final 2018 Ariane Burri earned the third place.
