Kitzsteinhorn: Top-Class Events Approaching

X OVER RIDE, World Rookie Tour Finals, Kitzsteinhorn Banked Slalom, and Elooa Camp Good Times coming up • Snow parks and halfpipe open until May

While spring is coming up, four winter sports event highlights are on the agenda at Kitzsteinhorn, Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria: first, the X OVER RIDE on 28 March, 2020, is all about the freeride spirit and important qualification points for the Freeride World Tour. From 31 March to 4 April 2020, the world’s best young snowboarders will compete in the finals of the World Rookie Tour in slopestyle and halfpipe. The legendary Kitzsteinhorn Banked Slalom on 25 April unites snowboarders of all disciplines at a fun race against the clock. And the elooa Camp Good Times will close the season from 5 to 10 May 2020.

Freeride Spectacle: X OVER RIDE 2020
The X OVER RIDE is an annual highlight of the freeride season. On 28 March 2020, the 3-star Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ) will transform the backcountry at Lakarschneid into a playground for top riders who want to collect important points for the FWQ ranking. The X OVER RIDE has been held since 2004 and attracts 70 riders from over ten nations to Kitzsteinhorn.

In addition to a spectacular show in the snow, the X OVER RIDE focusses on the freeride spirit. At the public area at Langwiedboden, spectators have a perfect view on the runs of the riders. Lakarschneid (2,652 metres) offers the participants plenty of features to show their drops, turns and tricks. The After Contest Party at Baumbar, Kaprun, brings the freeride day to a fitting end (from 10 pm).

Showdown of the world’s best young snowboarders: World Rookie Tour Finals
The World Rookie Tour is the biggest, oldest and most famous international youth action sports series. After a series of World Rookie Fests in France, New Zealand, Chile, Italy, USA, Finland, Bulgaria and Japan, the grand finale in slopestyle and halfpipe snowboarding will take place at Kitzsteinhorn from 31 March to 4 April, 2020.

The World Rookie Tour Finals include competitions for girls and boys in the categories Rookies (born 2002-2004) and Groms (born 2005 and younger). This event displays the stars of tomorrow, which is proven by the success of past World Rookie Champions such as Annika Morgan (GER), Christian Haller (SUI), Gjermund Bråten (NOR), Roope Tonteri (FIN), Sven Thorgren (SWE), or Mons Røisland (NOR).

The halfpipe contests will take place at the 150-metre long and 6.5-metre high Kitzsteinhorn Superpipe, which is famous for its perfect transitions formed by Olympic shaper Alli Zehetner. The slopestyle competitions are held at Central Park. On the varied kickers and rails, especially the 18-metre pro jump, the slopestylers can show all their versatility.

Legendary fun race: Kitzsteinhorn Banked Slalom
The legendary Kitzsteinhorn Banked Slalom promises plenty of fun for snowboarders of all ages and riding skills on 25 April, 2020. In a race against the clock, amateurs and professionals, freeriders, freestylers and alpine skiers compete against each other at a course prepared with banks. Summer fun at the end of the season: elooa Camp Good Times by Nitro Snowboards
At the elooa Camp Good Times by Nitro Snowboards from 5 to 10 May 2020, the European snowboard scene will celebrate the end of the season at the Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn and revive the times of the legendary summer camps. Training sessions with the elooa coaches, “Battle the Pros” contests with great prizes as well as photo and film shoots await the participants. An unforgettable experience together with the Nitro Global Team is ensured. Cool music, BBQ and chill-out area on the mountain as well as a creative set-up with obstacles for all riding skills ensure 100% fun and plenty of action. Registration already open at www.elooa.com!

Snowparks and halfpipe open until May
Even on days without events, Kitzsteinhorn is a magnet for all snowboarders and freeskiers throughout the spring. The unique series of features at South Central Park, Easy Park and Central Park enables riders to do tricks on up to 20 consecutive obstacles. In addition, Kitzsteinhorn is also home to the Eagle Line and the Superpipe, where you can frequently meet the top stars of the international halfpipe scene.
