See-Kaprun, Austria, heralds the final stage of the season with two
event highlights for snowboarders. The Volcom Banked Slalom at the end
of April and the Elooa Good Times Camp by Nitro Snowboards at the
beginning of May offer lots of fun for riders of all skill levels. In
addition, the best young riders on the planet were crowned at the finals
of the legendary World Rookie Tour at the end of March. The extensive
snowpark offer at Kitzsteinhorn with Central Park, Easy Park, South
Central Park and the Superpipe remains open until the beginning of May.
Volcom Banked Slalom: Three days of fun!
The legendary Volcom Banked Slalom at Kitzsteinhorn will be held as a three-day event from 26 to 28 April 2019 for the first time. Volcom Snowboarding presents a thrilling snowboard race against the clock in a course prepared with steep curves. Snowboard superstars Terje Håkonsen (NOR) and Arthur Longo (FRA) will also join in. At the qualification on Friday, 150 participants will try to secure one of the coveted spots for the main event on Saturday. The Banked Slalom on Saturday will take place in two rounds. In the evening, the riders can dance the night away at the Volcom Castle Rock Out Party in Kaprun Castle. The “Season-Ender Bender” with some events in and around the snowpark completes the weekend on Sunday. The overall winner can look forward to a starting slot at the legendary Mount Baker Banked Slalom in Washington, USA. Snowboarders of all ages and abilities are invited to participate. Elooa Good Times Camp by Nitro Snowboards: Many highlights for the fifth birthday
The Elooa Good Times Camp by Nitro Snowboards from 1 to 5 May 2019 will conclude the chain of events at Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn. The Nitro International Team and the elooa Crew will welcome the fifth anniversary of the camp together with Europe’s snowboard scene, celebrating the end of the season with good music, BBQ, chillout area and a creative snowpark setup with obstacles for all skill levels. Among the professionals are stars like Eero Ettala (FIN), Jeremy Jones (USA), Benny Urban (GER), Torgeir Bergrem (NOR), Sven Thorgren (SWE), Marc Swoboda (AUT), Ludwig Billtoft (SWE), and Dominik Wagner (AUT). Highlights include training sessions with the elooa coaches, “Battle the Pros” contests with great prizes as well as film and photo shoots with Europe’s elite photographers and filmmakers and the Nitro pros. In the evening, video coaching, parties, concerts and many other ingredients will add to the perfect end of the season. World Rookie Tour: New champions crowned!
Up-and-coming young snowboarders from all over the world showed great performances at the finals of the World Rookie Tour at Kitzsteinhorn from 25 to 30 March 2019. As to be expected, the podium places were fiercely contested due to the high level of the youngsters. In the end, Annika Morgan (GER) was crowned World Rookie Champion in the Slopestyle Rookie Girls category, Ruki Tomita (JPN) in the Halfpipe Rookie Girls, Mitchell Daven (NZL) in the Slopestyle Rookie Boys and Joonsik Lee (JPN) in the Halfpipe Rookie Boys. Many of the former World Rookie Champions rank among the best snowboarders in the world today, so the names of these four junior riders should be well remembered! Snowparks at Kitzsteinhorn still in operation
Thanks to the good snow conditions, the snowparks at Kitzsteinhorn will remain in operation until the beginning of May. The 150-meter-long and 6.5-meter-high superpipe built by Olympic shaper Alli Zehetner is in perfect condition, as is Central Park, which currently offers more than 20 features, including four 6 to 18 meter kickers, a wallride and a down flat down rail (12 m) as well as lots of tubes and rails in various variations.
Easy Park is in top condition as well, offering a total of 18 obstacles from beginner kickers to the more demanding medium jump as well as a mixture of boxes, tubes and rails. A comprehensive range for beginners, but also advanced riders! The new South Central Park has proven itself very well this season. The new attraction at Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn comprises 10 obstacles, including a huge Rainbow Rail (10 m), a 12-metre-long tube and a Waterfall Rail (10 m). Thanks to the South Central Park, the riders now enjoy a sequence of up to 20 obstacles in combination with Easy Park and Central Park.
