Saturday September 8 the King of the Court Crown Series – an elimination beach volleyball competition in festival style – took place in Antwerp, after a thrilling opening day in Utrecht the day before. The Brazilian team Schmidt/Solberg won on the second day of the series, which will continue next week in the United States. The second place was for the Norwegians Mol/Sorum followed by the Dutch team Brouwer/Stoyanovskiy. Thousands of spectators watched the best players in the world compete in the city centre of Antwerp. DJ Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano ended the event with a spectacular show. Fifteen of the world’s best beach volleyball teams battled for the title in Antwerp. More than 2000 spectators watched the games from the stands. The combination of sun and sand created the perfect atmosphere for the athletes on the court. The curiosity about King of the Court created an enormous boost for beach volleyball as a sport. The second Kings of the Series are Olympic and former world champions Pedro Solberg and Bruno Schmidt. The Norwegian world champions 2018 – Mol/Sorum – became second before the Dutchman Brouwer and his replacement partner Stoyanovskiy.
