Austrian seals Adelboden clean sweep with slalom from Matt and Kristoffersen.

Marcel Hirscher completed a stunning Adelboden weekend double after edging out Michael Matt and Henrik Kristoffersen for victory in Sunday’s slalom race.

The Austrian, who pipped Kristoffersen in Saturday’s giant slalom, triumphed by 0.13 seconds from compatriot Matt with the Norwegian a further 0.03 seconds back in third.

1) Hirscher’s thrilling win means he now has 24 FIS World Cup slalom victories, which leaves him third all-time on the men’s list behind Alberto Tomba and Ingemar Stenmark.

2) With five races done, Hirscher leads Kristoffersen by 99 points in the FIS World Cup slalom standings.

3) The Salzburg native has also extended his overall FIS World Cup lead to 154 points from Kristoffersen as he seeks a seventh consecutive overall title.

4) The 28-year-old has secured a podium place in an astonishing 54% of the 214 FIS World Cup career starts.

5) Did you know? Hirscher broke his ankle in August, however confounded medical expectations to return to winning ways on December 3 in Beaver Creek.
