Gearlink Kawasaki – Brands Hatch GP – Round 4

Dickies British Supersport   Round four of the Dickies British Supersport Championship took place at Brands Hatch GP circuit this weekend. Ben Wilson secured a fantastic fourth place in the opening race on Saturday and was 6th on Sunday. His team-mate Ross Twyman was 10th Supersport rider in the Sprint race and 12th in the main feature race.   Ben had a good weekend and was continuously improving his times; he managed to qualify in 7th place for the sprint race on Saturday. The race got underway but the heavens soon opened and the race was red-flagged. It was re-started as an 8-lap wet race, and Ben got a fantastic start and was away with the leaders. As the rain fell heavier Ben took to the front briefly and fought hard to push for a podium, he just missed out in the end and finished fourth.   He started from 8th for the feature race on Sunday but despite his best efforts over the 18-lap race he was unable to push up at the front and had to settle for a solid sixth after making a stunning pass on the final corner on the final lap to gain two more places.   Ross had a small crash during qualifying which lost him a lot of precious time on track and he ended up starting the opening race from 16th place on the grid. He rode a strong race to come through the pack to finish 10th Supersport rider.   He was placed in 15th for the feature race, he worked hard throughout the race and finished the 18-lap race in 12th.   Ben Wilson – “The Saturday race was good and it was great to be up at the sharp end again fighting for podiums. However on Sunday I took a gamble on a decision with the bike and unfortunately it wasn’t the right one, so my apologies to the team. We’re trying really hard at every round to make progress and we took a bit of a backwards step in the feature race. I will take the positives from Saturday and move on to Knockhill ready to go again.”   Ross Twyman – “Brands has been a very difficult weekend and I just could not find any set-up with the bike at all which was really frustrating. We will move onto Knockhill and try again. Thanks to Gearlink Kawasaki for their hard work and to my sponsors who keep me out there!”
Team Manager Michael de Bidaph – “We are finally making some progress in Supersport now that we have gone back to our original bikes and Ben had a strong weekend scoring valuable points.   Unfortunately Ross is still not comfortable with the bike and we are all working hard to find a solution as we all know what he is capable of achieving.” #4NormaFacebook – www.facebook.com/GearlinkRacingTwitter – Gearlink KawasakiPictures by CamiPix Photography
