Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen switch to football at Red Bull Akademie.
Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen are no strangers to being teammates and rivals on the track, and it was no different as they tackled the crossbar challenge at the Red Bull Akademie in Salzburg.
The two Red Bull Racing drivers were given 10 shots apiece to try to hit the crossbar from the edge of the penalty box, a challenge young Red Bull Salzburg striker Alexander Schmidt also undertook.
Unsurprisingly, the two racers, who last week tried their hand at ice hockey, came off second best in this particular challenge although, in terms of the inter-team battle, Ricciardo snuck it.
Up first was left-footer Verstappen, who managed to hit the target with his 10th and final attempt, leading to much celebration on the field of play.
And then Ricciardo, who took up his position with the warning, “don’t laugh, no laughing” before managing two strikes with his right foot followed by a final flourish with a series of keepy-uppys.
In the next challenge – a dribble-shoot undertaking – the Red Bull Racing duo also came out second best but, as Ricciardo put it to the Akademie bosses, “If we beat them, you have problems.”
