NZ’s Dylan Walsh has set bench-mark for what # 53 wants to achieve in 2019 MXGP/MX2 Season winning R2 at Hawkstone International MX this weekend, finishing 10th Overall in MX2.
It is mighty step-up in proving what the 20 year old, fiercely determined Kiwi has sights set on, from finishing 2018 European MX Championship 250cc class 6th Overall, to racing up front in MX2. More important, R2 win meant out-gunning previous year MX2 top 10 riders, with season experience under their belt.
# 53 ‘Yeah it’s was really good to dust off the cobwebs! I had a good first moto running 4th until the race got red-flagged and restarted. On the re-start I got unlucky and went down on the first turn so had to come from last but was able to win the second race. Coming into this weekend I didn’t know what to expect but I’m glad to see we’re on the right path’.
And results R2 confirmed: top 13 all ran within 1 second- 1st: Dylan 24.06.901- 13th: 24.52.060.
# 53: ‘Yeah it was tough because we didn’t get a free practice only timed practice and I’ve never raced here before so I had to learn the track fast! But I just focused on getting a good start and riding my own race’.
Not shy of getting amongst the mix, banging bars if need be, and showing all Walsh is the real deal for Title contention, Dylan remains grateful and appreciative to those working behind the scences to give him the best to achieve results.
# 53: Since joining this team, Revo Husqvarna everything has started to click really. Every one in the team works really hard and wants the best for me. We had a really good pre season which made things a lot smoother.
With only 2 weeks before FIM MXGP/MX2 Opener in Argentina, then long, gruelling 19 Round Series with 5 fly aways: Argentina, China, Russia, Indonesia 2x, Hong Kong, along with European venues, Dylan is more than ready to test what he has worked so hard to achieve.
# 53: I will continue my training program this week and then race the French International this weekend. After that we will go back to the workshop get everything ready to leave Tuesday for Argentina as it’s a big flight! But we’re motivated!
